Here’s a straightforward breakdown of what you need — from the machines your barista uses every day to the fridges your customers see the moment they walk in.
1. The coffee station
This is your core. Get it wrong and nothing else matters.
- Espresso machine: Semi-automatic for most cafes. Rancilio, La Marzocco, or similar — depends on volume and budget.
- Grinder: Don’t cheap out here. A bad grinder ruins good coffee. One grinder per group head, minimum.
- Water filter system: Non-negotiable in Lebanon. Scale destroys machines fast.
2. Refrigeration & display
Two things here: what’s behind the counter for your team, and what customers see.
- Under-counter fridge: For milk, ingredients, prep items. Compact and fits right under the bar.
- Display fridge / pastry case: If you’re selling cakes, sandwiches, or pastries — this is your silent salesman. Presentation matters.
- Beverage display cooler: For bottled drinks, juices, water. High-margin, high-visibility.
3. Fun food & specialty drinks
This is where you differentiate your cafe and add margin. A waffle or slush machine pays itself off faster than you think.
- Slush / Freazy machine: Sencotel is the go-to brand. 2 or 3 bowls depending on how many flavors you want to offer.
- Waffle or crepe maker: Low cost, high margin, easy operation. Good add-on for any cafe.
- Blender (commercial grade): For smoothies, frappes, cold blends. Don’t use a home blender — it won’t survive the volume.
- Ice maker: Especially in summer. You will run out of ice faster than you expect.
4. The basics you can’t skip
- Prep table with sink: Required by any health inspection. Stainless steel, custom-sized to your space.
- Exhaust hood: If you’re cooking or toasting anything, you need proper ventilation.
- Shelving & storage: Stainless steel. Easy to clean, durable, professional.
